Remembrance Day 2025

"We will remember them"

Provincial staff who gave their lives during war are commemorated on three memorials in Kendal. For a number of years the Provincial Pensioners Association has laid wreaths at them.

This year, memorials were laid on Tuesday 11th November at the following:

Civic War Memorial Market Place

This memorial will be known to all who visit Kendal.

The Roll of Honour includes those who died in World War 1, World War 2 and the Korean War.

Janis Mildwater represented Provincial Pensioners and laid our wreath during the Civic Ceremony at 11am.

St George's Church

This is the place where the Memorial stone that used to be at Head Office has been located since 2001.

Listed on the Memorial stone are all the Provincial staff (whether they worked in the United Kingdom or Overseas), including Miss Laycock - a civilian staff member killed in an air raid on Nottingham. Also on display is the Book of Remembrance, which contains one page for every staff Member who lost their lives (see the Tribute page for further details).

Christine Nicholson and John Lyons laid wreaths on behalf of Provincial Pensioners and the Scott family at 11am. The wreath in the middle was from the congregation of St Georges.
